Need FREE spellchecker library for C++ app

I make a windows app with raw C++. I need a free spellchecker component which is easy to integrate. I know of commercial ones at $400, but I would much prefer a free one.

"Jeffrey, not to play smartboy, but I have had quite a few free lunches at school :)"

Don't think so - *somebody* paid for them, probably taxpayers. :)

I'll second aspell.  Don't grab the binary though, compile from source.  I had a lot of problems with the binary, but as soon as I compiled from source everything was very easy.

Contact me privately if you have questions about using it.  It was a little tricky at first until I worked out some of the details.

norvig has a free one over on his website, though it is more of a demo for how to write your own.  the original is python but someone has translated it to Cpp.

Simply amazing that Microsoft has not made this system wide as Apple has done.

Is anything in M$ system wide. How many image viewers in Windows. Fragmented organisation developing in silos...

"Nothing is the same before and after Python."

For one, my lunch now looks quite different than before these several hourse I've spent reading about Python.

Do you know of a free house I could get as well? How about a free car?  What about taxes--would someone do them for me for free?  If you can't get me the car, can you at least get someone to fix mine for free? Playing guitar is fun, but mine needs to be setup. Can you throw this in for free as well?

I could buy all this stuff but I'd prefer it to be free.

Oh yes, I'm just amazed. You'd think they would. And for free.

You said you can buy a component that does what you want for $400. Unless your time isn't worth very much, the build vs. buy decision on this seems very straightforward.

If you really need to make your own, it doesn't seem like this would be all that much work - just grab an online word list, write an "edit distance" function, and glue them together.
