c++ memory leak checker for cygwin

I'm looking for a (preferably free) memory leak checker for validating c++ programs compiled with gcc under cygwin.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks,

only free one i know of, which doesnt require modifying your source, is valgrind which in for linux only. if your code is portable enough then compile on linux and valgrind? there are various libraries available which allow you to do memory checking by modifying the default allocators. otherwise you are looking at forking out for purify i think.
