Joel on Software Lunch: Toronto Jan 21th |
I'm planning to come to Toronto in January to speak to a bunch of students at CUTC 2005. While I'm there, I thought it would be fun to meet some readers over lunch, so if you're going to be in the area, I hope you will be able to come!
I suggest we meet at the Movenpick Marche, at BCE Place, at 1:00 PM Friday January 21st, 2005.
If & only if you can make it, please add a single comment below so I can get a rough count.
The time & locale are tentative -- before you set out, check the Joel on Software homepage for last-minute changes!
I'm in, but I'm sure we can do better than Movenpick ;-).
Count me in.

I'm game. Not sure that Movenpick is best. C'est What, which is v close to Movenpick, should be easier to get into and a lot easier to pull several tables together without being arrested.
I'd love to!

I recommend Le Commensal ("Fine Vegetarian Cuisine"): http://www.toronto.com/infosite/146593/5.shtml (the menu printed on this page is a subset of what they have: they have some 15 dishes at each buffet).

Grumble. If only the fast ferry between Rochester & Toronto was working, I'd be able to make it.
The likelihood of this is about the same likelihood of me gaining owner over Toronto.
Goddamned crooks.

Marche's alright (the real Movenpick restaurant is a bit better though, although the one near Bloor & Bay was closed down last summer, anyone know of a different one?) too bad I can't make it. You guys have fun :-) :-9

Wow. I'd say I'll be there but the crowd already sounds very big.
Movenpick is overpriced, but it's good for accomodating large crowds, I'm in

LOCATION SHOULD BE IN CHINATOWN - DUNDAS/ELIZABETH AREA - I live and work in the area, let's discuss. Looks like there will be enough people to fill a room. Call me to discuss: 416-8226528

Sounds fun, I'll make the trip downtown.
I'll be there. I love to listen to you. With so many people attending, I think you have to speak pretty loudly. Not too good for you throat :-)

I second the C'est What... although considering the number of replies, you might do better renting the SkyDome.

Barring bad weather, I'll try to be there too.
I can make it, and I'd like to, but the list is pretty long already, so ... we'll see.
I'd join too but not with all you knuckleheads showing up. :|

Joel,
A suggestion -- why don't you rent out a room at Metro Hall instead of at a place that most likely is hard to accomodate everyone... Metro Hall is available for not for profits and group meetings like this. It is free, you can have it catered and split the cost and it easily accomodates groups of up to 50.... Email me if you want to know more... I book meetings there monthly...
Will try to be there.
