Why reddit and digg wont guarantee a traffic upsurge

Shameless self promotion again.
But I think I wrote a better article this this.

Another way to achieve the same effect is to create a valuable product or service.

So, Vineet, did the JoS forum give you a traffic upsurge?

Yes it did.
More than 50% of the traffic to that page came from here, while the rest came from a submission (by another person).
I had to make sure that I didnt bring down my post's value by promoting it in reddit.
It made itself to the reddit recommended (I checked it once), but I have to put in more content before I create a real "mexican wave". There's no substiute for content - most of my readers wont even know of network analysis or transverse waves.
