Multilingual Email

Hi there,
A friend asked me if it was possible to encode a single email with multiple versions per language.
Example you can encode emails with html and plain text. Can you also do English and Hebrew, how about english PT, HTML, hebrew PT/HTML?

Any recomendations on email (single client and comercial mailers) software that does this already?

Thanks!

If I recall correctly, emails work fine with UTF7 encoding, allowing multilingual emails.

It is certainly possible to send an email in another language. It isn't possible to send a single email in multiple languages and have the email client somehow show the correct language to the user.

You could probably achieve functionality like you are describing by crafting a complex HTML email which had javascript to toggle sections visible/invisible depending on user action (like clicking "English"), but then you may run into security issues as many email clients don't support javascript in the email since it can be a security vulnerability.

Probably your best bets are to send individualized emails in the user's preferred language or to send a single HTML email in the most common language and provide links within the email which take the user to a web page version of the email in the language corresponding to the link.
