Books for .NET handheld development?

Anyone out here using VB.NET for Windows Mobile 5 handheld development and can offer any good books on optimization techniques?

Our handheld app seems to be run through a molasses filter running on Mobile 5.  On the prior edition (something something 2003 Second Edition, I can't remember its name now - sorry) it ran faster but still it wasn't snappy.  M$ changed the storage devices for Mobile 5 and that seems to slow things a bit, but still .NET apps just seem sluggish.

Ideas?  TIA.
