local user registry change not be visible to Admin - why?

I log on to my machine as a User and create a new key in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

I log out and back in as an administrator and search the registry for the newly created key.  It is not found.  For that matter, that particular user's entire branch under HKEY_USERS isn't visible.

Why can't I see my local user's registry info?

(Windows XP, Active Directory.  My admin account is a domain account but admin only to my box.  The user account is a local user account.)

When you logged out, Windows unloaded that registry hive.  Run a service as the other user and you'll see it still loaded as long as the service is running.
