if you had multiple SSL enabled websites (each SSL cert requires its own IP address).

Multiple SSL certificates?

SSL requires a unique IP address.  You can share an IP among several domains, but only one domain per that IP address can have SSL enabled. See http://www.ourshop.com/resources/ssl.html for a more detailed explanation.

Anonymous FTP is another service that requires a unique IP address.

N has it right.  Every SSL site needs it's own IP address.

Above comment are mostly right, you generally want multiple IP's for multiple SSL certificates, as you are restricted to one certificate per SSL connection.

However, depending on the naming of the sites, it is possible to have one certificate handle multiple site names with a wildcard certificate.

For example, if you want support.myco.com, www.myco.com, and partners.myco.com, you can just use a *.myco.com certificate.
