master db in mssql

Can anyone think of any practical use of user tables in master db ?

No - it's a system database and you shouldn't be playing with it.

Some people, even respectable, published DBAs, have done this (Sorry, I am referring to a presenter at the SQLPASS conference seceral years ago, and I can' remember his name).

I say DON'T. Leave the master and msdb databases alone. Microsoft could come up with a patch or something and totally screw everything up due to a name conflict, etc.

Let SQL Server have its way with master and msdb and do any user stuff that you would think about doing in master in a database called something like Admin. That's where I put anything I want to use across databases in the server(s), an Admin database.
