Is it possible to use netstat to obtain traffic statistics on a per connection basis as opposed to "netstat -e", which gives total interface statistics? Are per connection stats ever recorded and available either directly or via a 3rd party app/API?

A good alternative to netstat is tcpview from sysinternals.com
But it doesnt do what u ask for.
The closest I have seen to what you need is the summary window of sunbelt kerio personal firewall.
It shows per connection stats in realtime, but not exactly whats there in netstat -e.
