I'm not going to give authoritative advice on which you should use, but there are two implementations.

Or BigInteger, depending on whether you need decimal places, or just integers.

It seems that IBMs suggestions were incorporated into Java 1.5, according to their FAQ.

"problems were so severe that IBM raised a Java Specification Request (JSR) ... This has now been implemented ... and was shipped with Java 1.5 in 2004"
