If you instance an activeX/serverobject like microsofts xmldom in asp, is there a way to keep it alive between pageloads, instead of having to reinstance it every time?
If I create a tree and manipulate it for output, I'd like the tree/dom to remain persistent between pageloads with a minimum of fuzz.

Are we talking about Classic ASP?  IF so, set it to an application variable.

Set MyTree = Server.CreateObject(..)
Set Application("MyTree") = MyTree

Done from memory, but I think that will work. Keep in mind that this takes up RAM, but if you use it a lot, maybe it's worth it.

Be careful when you update/read from it...  if you're updating the central version, you should be okay as long as there aren't simultaneous actions taking place.  If you're cloning it, you're going to have a Whole Lot of Not Fun (tm).
