SnagIt 8

Is anyone here tried SnagIt 8, yet? It looks like it just came out. If not, what screen capture tool do you use now?

I use either the print button or apple+shift+3, depending on the OS.

I'm on SnagIt 7.2.5 (just checked).  I don't know what changes came in 8, but I can't imagine what else a screen-capping app can do.

SnagIt is a must-have piece of software for me.  I use it every day, multiple times.  It's incredibly well done -- you can make a screencap and have it attached to an email in about two clicks.

One of the best apps I've ever used.

For Windows, MWSnap has everything I need.  And it is freeware.

MWSnap for me too. Plus Paint Shop Pro and its capture capability.

I use IrfanView: http://www.irfanview.com/

It is free for non-comercial use.

SnagIt is a pretty incredible tool. I used to use "print screen" and Irfanview or some other graphical tool but they come nowhere near the power of Snagit. Some simple examples?

1. time delay on captures (if you have any "hover" buttons you'll know what I mean)

2. screen capture scrolling screens that are too big for the main window.

3. screen capture websites, downloading all images therein.

4. simple graphical paintbrush type features to mark or manipulate your screen capture.

Honestly, what I think is really cool is the way it does "ripped" edges.

Was that in Version 7.2.5?

Yes - I upgraded the other day.  The main benefit of V8 is you can now create a PDF from your screen captures.  It also has a redesigned UI.  I thought the UI from V7 was just fine but this very usable too, though I am not as used to it yet.

It is a fantastic tool (as is Camtasia).
