Push VB6 into many-colored icons?

Finally broke down and got nice icons from http://www.virtuallnk.com/.

They look great, but are horrible in the app.

I think the issue is that vb6 ImageList has shallow colordepth (and distorts many-colored icons with dithering).  Does anyone know how to address this?

Trying to push VB6 beyond its limits,

Are you sure you're using the right size icons? Some icon files have multiple "devices", so the file as a 32x32, 16x16, and other sized icons. VB will use the first "device" it finds, so if you want a 16x16 icon and it finds a 32x32, it scales the 32x32 down to 16x16, which looks like crap, instead of using the actual 16x16.

You can use an icon editor (the one if VC++ works) to copy the correct device to its own icon file.

Just an idea,

Pain to implement, but looks great.  Thanks.
