Magazines on software design and development

Hi all,

I was wondering what magazines/periodicals you guys read on the topics of software design, software development, management of software related projects. Which ones would you recommend?

I would prefer something that focusses on the concepts and theory but still is oriented towards real world use (not academic use).

Thanks,

boris

I've been subscribing to Dr. Dobb's Journal and C/C++ User's Journal for over 15 years.

Dobb's is probably the best overall.

Software Development magazine is my favorite for general software development and project management discussion.  They've got some limited online content for free (www.sdmagazine.com).

I would add the following to KC's list (not familar with items 3 and 4 off his list):
ACM Queue (less high brow than most ACM publications)
Game Developer magazine (if you're into that kind of thing)
IEEE Software Engineering Notes (High brow software engineering articles)
ACM Interactions (human computer interaction issues)
Communications of the ACM (very similar to IEEE Computer)

** management of software related projects **

Apart from the list already provided (I am ACM myself, cannot comment for IEEE, but they have a sterllar reputation) I'd suggest "Software Development Magazine" for methodologies, planning and project management.

+1 for Software Development (http://www.sdmagazine.com/, although it appears to be down at the moment)

Fix that URL -- http://www.sdmagazine.com/

I can't believe that it put the comma in the URL in my previous post. Stupid parser...
