I want to add extra tags to my own feeds for my own projects. My question, how strict are most RSS readers? Most RSS feeds don't specify a schema or something similar, but I know some pricks will add them.
Basically I want to enhance RSS a little bit. It shouldn't effect the core RSS2 feed.
Just add another namespace. XML readers are supposed to ignore any tags they don't understand that are in a different namespace from that which they are expecting.
<rss version="2.0" xmlns:xtra="http://www.example.com/Xtra">
and so on and so forth.
But there's no way to get a a reader to render it, is there?
