Spam on this forum

How come there's no spam on this forum?

I would expect exactly the opposite, given that it has a relative high number of readers. I understand this is moderated, but still it would be an enourmous effort to delete every spam you get.

Do you use automated filtering or something?

Thanks,
Nimeni Iupi

There are *very* intelligent trained monkeys manning the moderator buttons.  I've seen them.

More than 3 links and the post vanishes. Or maybe it is just me?

This forum uses FogBugz, here's how the antispam features work:

It apparently prefers false positive - almost every day I see new discussions appear in the past. I suspect that it's a resurrected spam-suspected post.

There's a *lot* of spam on this forum.  Readers just never see it because we use FogBugz for the forums and spam is automagically removed.

The jobs board has about five spam msgs in in right now.  Once a week some crackz d00d posts his ten page post on how to get his crackz, which never appears.  Completely off-topic threads, obvious trolls, and meta threads (like this posting) disappear to keep the signal to noise ratio high.

The Crack dood has made it through a couple times... I assume the filter was still learning at that point.

Does Joel himself filter all the spam that slips through the automated filtering?
