Browser extensions with .NET

Hiya,

we're working on a product in C# which is to be used from the browser---that is, under Windows, any of the three popular browsers (IE, Firefox, Opera). Extending IE should be a breeze with some COM interop, Firefox seems to be possible with lots of messing with XUL and XPCOM. However, I'm desperately looking for information on how to extend Opera, not in terms of skins or styles but in terms of browser add-on development.

Do you know any useful resources for browser extensibility in .NET in general, but for Opera in particular?

Many thanks,
Phil

What about using a cross-browser/cross-platform technology like Applets or Flash?

Well, let's nail it down---my post is a while ago, now I need: "any way possible to hook (not hack) into Opera to provide a browser extension for this seemingly pretty closed thing; no matter what technology, be it Java, "Flash" (?) or even (god, beware) C++ (argh)".

But I have the feeling all one can extend Opera with is _plug-ins_ (for MIME types such as flash or svg or vrml etc pp) but not _add-ons_ (extending the browser behaviour).
