Distriubtion channels for a new free edition

I release now a free edition of my utility. It's a Windows -based utility (Winforms) and it's intended to developers who work in software development companies (B2B).
So far it was commercial only, and now I offer free or commercial editions.

I'm now wondering what would be the best channels to distribute the new free edition.
I consider to use download.com but I fear they might wrap my utility with some disgusting browser toolbars.

What channels would you recommend to tell the world if you have a new free edition?
Google adwords?

I've already tried Linkedin forums and facebook but it does not cover all market I want to reach.
