Where did all the regular blogs go? When I try searching in google blog search they all seem to be either part of some big enterprise like lifehacker or download.com, or else they're just reproducing content from elsewhere.
Okay, I'm exaggerating a little. But not that much. My software isn't a niche product, it's a general consumer/utility. So the sort of blog I'm most likely to have success with is a general blog written by some guy who has a reasonable sized readership and, amongst other things, sometimes mentions software that he/she enjoys using.
My approach so far has been to search for reviews of my competitors' software, and as I say, not much success. I'm beginning to think all the regular bloggers have decamped to facebook. Anyone tried asking for a review on a facebook page?
Or are there better approaches to finding suitable sites?
For my Homeschool tracker software, I just searched around for Homeschool blogs and contacted bloggers individually.
Some were amenable to doing software product reviews (with some small compensation for their trouble, of course) and some were not. I just had to ask.
