Adsense on a software site

Bad idea because it cuts into your sales right?

What if a particular product's sales are way down, maybe because its based around a technology which is declining in popularity for example -  but the site still has tons of traffic.

Well it's easy enough to place the code and test it out for a week or so.

Depending on the type of software you may find you can make more with 'pay for action' ads.

No real harm in trying. It may cut into your sales, but if it helps your customers, I would say to go for it.
