Uhmm... Truly amazing? Have you tried to actually name a star with it? Cool concept, but implementation is a failure. If the app cannot do what it's supposed to do, it doesn't matter how 'cool' it is.

(And yes, I am biased LOL)

I did not see any claims that you could name a star. I am not an astronomy buff but the very idea that I could now pin point my phone in the sky and see the constellations, stars and actually indentify them.

It is still new so there is still room to grow and improve

Hi nj,

Name, identify, pinpoint....  any way we call it. Have you tried to do it? To point your phone at the star and actually know which start it is?

I wasn't able to make it work.
As a reference, in my desktop I have StarrryNight4.0 which makes identifying a star a breeze.

Hi NJ,

I need to apologize to you and Google Sky Map. I came home to check how  come the reviews were positive when my experience was not.

I discovered to my dismay that I put my foot in my own mouth. The app I tested was "PlanetariaX" for the Android on an HTC Dream.

And not Google sky map.

I went ahead and installed Google Sky map and it's pretty good, it works as advertised. My apologies.

Best regards
