Torrent marketing

We have discussed here multiple times download sites as a way to market (and sell) software but what I am asking this time is different. Do somebody have done marketing via torrents network, e.g. uploading torrent of shareware version (or some sort of reduced version) with trial period?

I think the number of users who understand how to use BitTorrent is pretty small.  And the advantages of using a torrent for distribution probably don't make much sense for small file sizes.  Unless your app is huge, it's probably much easier just to offer a direct download.

Just make sure you rip out some vital and hard to reproduce code, and call it "full version crack".

Never know, frustrate 'em enough and they may even buy something...
