Can anyone recommend a domain name acquisition service?

Right now we're operating off the .co.uk, but we need to buy the .com as we're a larger company now. They guy who owns it won't seem to respond to emails.

We're thinking about hiring a professional domain name acquisition service. We tried Sedo a while back, but they came back to us with a preposterous quote. Also, they charge a percentage...so why would they even bother negotiating? Can anyone recommend anyone else?

Preposterous is in the eye of beholder?

Maybe the current owner doesn't want to sell for a cheap price?

"They guy who owns it won't seem to respond to emails." - So, you can't do anything, just find another domain name.

His whois information contains a street address.  FedEx will put a letter in his hands for, what, 10 quid or so?  In an envelope that says "Hey, you, somebody paid 10 quid so that you would read this -- it is probably important."
