google ad words inflation

anyone here getting the 5.00 minimum on their keywords lately. I cannot hit a good keyword for less than a 5.00 bid, which completely defeats the purpose and blows my budget. 2 years ago I could hit as numerous keywords for .25 or less all day long.

Yes, this happens.

Check to see if there is any competition for these expensive keywords.

I've seen my keywords go up in the ABSENCE OF ANY COMPETITION.

I think Google can be clueless. The major point of the Internet is that is should be a more level playing field i.e. you don't need high-street real estate to sell a product.

For all they have done, Google is very slowly destroying the Internet.

Check your page relevancy.

If your page does not contain or pertain to the keyword you want, it will be 5 bucks.

Change your page and/or use relevant keywords.
