5 things you don't know about me

Time to get personal. :)

I saw these floating around the web, and since I'm sick with the flu and can't work, I decided to ... share.

So. 5 things you know about me, and 5 things you don't know about me:

Feel free to post your own...

We're advertising "5 things you don't know about me" blog posts on the Business of Software now?

I'm not tying to be rude, but is that really necessary?

Not sure rude is the word.  Perhaps vain?

More interesting than the usual pitches of bad software ideas on here. ;)

Give me a break!

I've provided more than my fair share of experience-based business input to this forum over the last two years, and I improve the signal-to-noise ratio on an almost daily basis. I think I deserve a frivolous entertainment thread which doesn't start with "what should I name my company" or "desktop vs. web".

I don't know if this is because of all the new blood on this forum, or because something has changed, but one used to be able to hold down a conversation around here.

It's called networking.

Conversations like "5 things you don't know about me" brought Antair into its most profitable month ever this month. Prior to this, conversations like "5 things you don't know about me" with traders, got me into the best Wall Street firms.

And it's conversations like "5 things you don't know about me" both on this forum, through e-mail, and occasionally in person, that allow long-time BOS readers and uISV founders like Jon, Ian, Patrick, Phil, Andy, Bob, Mr Analogy, Gavin, and myself (not to mention countless others) to know one another and use the network to not only improve their business through the sharing of ideas, but also to, perhaps, make their day a bit better after sitting in a home office and coding alone for 10 hours before the spouse comes home.

A real shame to want to know more about the people you've spent more time with in the past 2 years than with your own family?

Work is not always about just working....

I'm moving along now...

- Cheers

+1 for Andrey.

I read this forum daily. I think it's kind of cool to know more about the people who post here regularly.

Andrey, let us know how many hits you get from this thread - I reckon quite a few.

I enjoyed reading 5 things about you anyway.  I think I'm too British to post 5 things about me though - stiff upper lip and that ;-)

Sorry, no offense intended to the OP.

I enjoyed the "5 things about me" post from Eric Sink. But after that I started getting bored with every other techie at Microsoft blogging 5 things about themselves. At this point I really don't care and would just prefer to see the whole thing go away.

I've seen about 20 of these posts now out on the Internet and unless the person is someone I actually "knew" in the first place, then there is no real reason to know the things I didn't know about them.

Well done. I thought this thread was certainly different than the other threads on this forum, but the blog post was well written and interesting. Nice work!

Keep up, Andrey.

And to add my 2c - one thing you don't know about me:
Today I've received the official approvement of my Ph.D. degree that I defended in October.

Now, I'm a Dr. who makes Dr. :-) LOL

Heh, that reminds me of this instructional video on how to maintain not only a stiff upper lip:

One thing you didn't know about me (or care) - I read that line as "Now, I'm a Dr. Who..." for a second, before I was disappointed ;)
I'm not quite as obsessive as this sendup, but I can see bits of me:
